Why GLDI* Kids? We have been doing programs and training for youth and college-age students for 20 years. But we believe that character and leadership development has to start with children. GLDI Kids is a wholesome and fun camp experience where they will grow in their creativity, in their friendships, in their character, and in their intellect.

2020 Summer

OUR MISSION is to integrate the Biblical leadership values of GLDI with an elementary school level holistic curriculum in order to foster leadership, learning, and a love for God and others in children.

 

MULTI-AGE SUMMER EXPERIENCE for English-speaking children from 1st through 6th grades.

IN THE GREEN PART OF TEXAS

JAMA Global Campus is in East Texas, and unlike the rest of the state, is lush green with many tall pine trees.

 

Students sleeping on campus will be lodging in a newly constructed housing unit in a beautiful forested part of the campus with trained counselors.

GLDI KIDS

 

A summer experience in an active and healthy American rural environment. 

 

Our summer program is designed to address the limitations many children may face, ranging from overdependence on screen/digital interactions and unhealthy air that limits outdoor activities to a lack of opportunities to develop healthy, global interpersonal skills and leadership qualities. 

 

GLDI Kids takes a multi-age cohort of English-speaking children from South Korea together with children from the United States of America in order to create a learning community.

DESIGN

We’ve designed our learning environment and experiences with a mix of indoor and outdoor activities:

 

CULTURE OF RESPECT

  • Teaching and modeling words and deeds that respect others.

 

ACTIVITIES

  • De-emphasize screen time and Emphasize tactile-rich activities  

  • Creating/problem-solving with real-world materials  

 

COMMUNITY

  • Citizenship: how to belong to and be a positive contributor to a community and society

  • Conflict resolution

 

REFLECTION

  • Daily journaling using a mix of media

  • Guided reflection in small groups

 

FAITH

  • We believe that all children should begin to base their faith on facts, and to this end, we explore Biblical facts, history, and culture.

  • Illuminate who God is according to the Bible, our conduct, and our worship

  • AGRICULTURE & FARMING

ACTIVITIES

In multi-age classrooms, children can progress at their own pace, individuality is valued, labels are not used for more advanced kids, children feel less competition, and have different expectations for themselves. 

We also believe it cultivates an environment that’s better for a growth mindset over a fixed one. We also notice that social interactions are richer because they engage in and witness a larger variety.
