Ikseon (Ike) Choi, Ph.D.

Dr. Ikseon (Ike) Choi is an associate professor of Learning, Design, and Technology in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology at the University of Georgia. His research and teaching focus on understanding how people learn and solve real-world problems and designing learning environments promoting college students’ ability to solve real-world problems. Through his research, he has identified a gap between the ability developed through formal education and the ability required for solving real-world problems and has argued in favor of the unique roles of church education to close this gap. He also speaks on why and how short-term and long-term missions experiences contribute to the development of global leadership. He serves the education ministry for mission fields with Messengers of Mercy. He is also involved with the Mission & Outreach Division and teaches Sunday school at Athens Korean Presbyterian Church in Athens, GA. He earned his Ph.D. in Instructional Systems at Penn State. He and his wife, Nara, have two children.
